Cold Ocean Seafoods, LLC -- FAQs

Are salmon and black cod sustainable fisheries?
According to the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Program, Alaskan Black Cod (aka Sablefish), Alaskan King Salmon and Alaskan Coho are "best choices" -- they are some of the most sustainable fish that you can eat!
How is my seafood handled on your boat?
Fresh fish are individually quick frozen and glazed on the fishing grounds. Quick frozen is modern technology (e.g. blast freezing, plate freezing) that very quickly brings the temperature of salmon down and helps to preserve quality. Glazing, a thin coat of fresh water ice, is achieved by dipping the frozen fish several times in cold water, sealing air away from the fish and helping prolong shelf life. Fish are then preserved and stored at very cold temperatures (-10°to-20°F).
Who are your Cold Ocean Customers?
Right now, we sell whole Frozen-At-Sea (FAS) fish to restaurants primarily in Alaska, Washington, Oregon and California.
How do you ship your fish?
Our fish is kept cold between -10 and 0 for the duration of its travel from our freezer to yours.
How will my fish arrive?
Your fish will be carefully packed in a styro-foam container within a fish box. It will be shipped frozen and arrive to you frozen.
